My Funny Valentine

I wrote you a poem
Roses are red
But they’ll wilt and die
Violets aren’t blue
They’re more purplish.
Diamonds are forever
Who cares?
The Sun’s out.
Thanks for the
Longitude, Latitude,
And Laugh lines
Seriously,
I wrote you a poem.

Michigan rendition great state by the lake
Ever green, Fords, make no mistake
Frenchmen and Fathers started this place
Small town, Motown, now Hockeytown race
Sand by the mile, no fees, stay and play
Trends lure others-I'm here to stay.

Upper, lower, both compass direction
Say where you're from, point to the mitten
Hunting big bucks, birds, or white-tailed deer
Tree boughs that keep their color all year
Big lake, as well as state schools, can't decide
Green or Blue, must one choose a side?

Seasons flow leaving no regret
East and West, sunrise or sunset
Festivals of music, flower, and film
Crafts abound show artists and kiln
Camping, fishing, baseball, or beach
Fine wine tasting is always in reach.

Scenic lookout with lighthouse view
Paint it, picnic, or sit in a church pew
Autumn foot traffic on bridge takes a spike
Railroad pathways hold horse or bike
Winter trails make my case set forth
This state of mine--one true North.

Downhill, cross-country, I do not cajole
Half way between equator north pole
A lodge, a fire, a drink, all night long
Poker face, hold 'em or lay your hand down
More culture comes from big three, tribal land
Two in one, my Michigan.

Hi! It's me again...in my empty nest. Driving up your sitemeter. :-D
Loved your poem and shout out to Michigan. Makes me think of the
5th grade state reports.
